History

These pictures are taken from a map that dates from 1773 and shows the organisational districts that the early Quakers established together with a strict schedule of meeting times. Quarterly meetings were held four time a year and sat in between Monthly (Area) meeting and Yearly meeting. This map shows that the four Quarterly meetings in the North West, Cumberland,Westmorland, Lancashire and Cheshire formed their own Yearly meeting.

Many of the smaller areas shown on this map are still Area meetings or have been merged to create our present structure.
